Every year, Swords & Spoons proudly celebrates Free RPG Day, one of our favorite traditions and one of the biggest roleplaying events of the year.
Free RPG Day is an international celebration of tabletop roleplaying games. Publishers from across the industry release exclusive adventures, quick-start guides, accessories, and other limited-edition items that are only available through participating local game stores. It's all about introducing new players to the hobby while giving veteran adventurers something exciting to experience.
At Swords & Spoons, we turn Free RPG Day into an all-day celebration.
Our tables are filled with one-shot adventures across a variety of game systems—from Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu to indie RPGs, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and everything in between. Whether you've been rolling dice for decades or you're creating your very first character, there's a seat waiting for you.
We provide beginner-friendly adventures, experienced Game Masters, and a welcoming community that loves helping new players discover tabletop roleplaying games. Many of our sessions include pregenerated characters, so you can jump right into the action with little or no preparation.
The event has become one of the highlights of our calendar each year. Last year, more than 100 players joined us throughout the day, filling 16 gaming tables with unforgettable stories, epic battles, and plenty of laughter. Seeing so many people gather to celebrate this hobby is exactly what Free RPG Day is all about.
In addition to games, we often feature raffles, giveaways, special promotions, community partners, and other surprises to make the day even more memorable.

'Near Mint condition cards show minimal or no wear from play or handling and will have an unmarked surface, crisp corners, and otherwise pristine edges outside of minimal handling. Near Mint condition cards appear 'fresh out of the pack,' with edges and surfaces virtually free from all flaws. '

'Lightly Played condition cards can have slight border or corner wear, or possibly minor scratches. No major defects are present, and there are less than 4 total flaws on the card. Lightly Played condition foils may have slight fading or indications of wear on the card face. '

'Moderately Played condition cards have moderate wear, or flaws apparent to the naked eye. Moderately Played condition cards can show moderate border wear, mild corner wear, water damage, scratches , creases or fading, light dirt buildup, or any combination of these defects. '

'Heavily Played condition cards exhibit signs of heavy wear. Heavily Played condition cards may include cards that have significant creasing, folding, severe water damage, heavy whitening, heavy border wear, and /or tearing. '

'Damaged condition cards show obvious tears, bends, or creases that could make the card illegal for tournament play, even when sleeved. Damaged condition cards have massive border wear, possible writing or major inking (ex. white-bordered cards with black-markered front borders), massive corner wear, prevalent scratching, folds, creases or tears.
